Welcome to Poblenou

Poblenou is the neighbourhood of modern Barcelona: former industrial warehouses converted into tech offices, modern residential construction and a young, international resident profile. Its proximity to the sea sets it apart from the rest of the city.

The former "Catalan Manchester" industrial hub is today the 22@ district: technology, design, coworkings and startups coexist with the Rambla del Poblenou and Bogatell beach.

An Urban Legacy: History and Evolution

The "Catalan Manchester"

In the 19th century, Poblenou was the industrial heart of Catalonia: textiles, metallurgy and chemicals. The great chimneys and industrial warehouses still mark the urban landscape.

22@ conversion

Starting in 2000, the 22@ urban plan transformed the neighbourhood into an innovation district. Tech companies, universities and research centres moved into the rehabilitated old warehouses.

Residential life

Modern residential construction in the 2010s attracted young professionals, expats and families looking for new construction near the beach.
