In Catalonia, inheritance is governed by the Catalan Civil Code, not the Spanish one. Taxation (inheritance tax, ITP transfer tax, municipal capital gains tax) has regional brackets. A lawyer who only knows national rules is not enough for real estate transactions in Barcelona.
